Ongoing projects

Sustainability

The foundation has continued to ensure that the projects are need driven, and that the beneficiaries take ownership of the projects from the start, and that they are sustainable. Each village and community has a culture of its own and for the long term success it is necessary to understand the dynamics of each village and get the beneficiaries to take ownership.

The Foundation has also kept its commitments and earned the trust of the beneficiaries. All too often one sees schools and other facilities established and then go in to disrepair or programmes coming to an end because they are not sustainable. All the programmes undertaken by the Sahana foundation have been finalized and the current projects focus on Education and Health, for the betterment of life.

Funding of the activities

The finances for the Sahana foundation come from the Barberyn Group of Companies and contribution of guests from Barberyn Reef and Barberyn Beach Resorts.

An innovative funding scheme has been formulated for the operation of the two pre-schools through a birthday calendar where by guests can donate the sum required for a month. Approximately Euro 200.00 is required for the Anamli Pre -school of about 28 students and Euro 400.00 for the Chitramali Pre School which has currently 60 students. Whenever there is a shortfall the Barberyn Group of Companies helps and also bears all administrative costs including time cost of staff and transport etc.

Each contribution received, what ever its nature and size is valued and the Directors personally supervise the implementation of the projects.
