Akuressa Girls Home
Akurassa Girls Home is located in the District of Matara and about a 45 minutes drive from Barberyn Beach, Weligama. It currently accomodates 16 girls between the age of 6 and 18 years. The Home is managed by the well-known charitable organization “Sarvodaya” and is funded purely through voluntary contributions.
Barberyn has undertaken to sponsor all 16 children for a period of three years. It is our intention to encourage past guests to undertake the sponsor of individual children so that they can establish a rapport with the child, through correspondence and occasional visits to the home, and help towards the betterment of their life. The children will continue to live in the home and continue with their education
The cost of sponsoring one child is Rs 3500 (about thirty Euros) per month. This will cover the up keep of the child and enable the home to place a small sum (Rs 500) in a savings account that is being opened for each child.
